They call themselves black people.
Aborigines are among the most pure black africoid people in existence.

The Aborigines are thus direct descendants of the first modern humans to leave Africa, without any genetic mixture from other races so far as can be seen at present. Their dark skin reflects an African origin and a migration and residence in latitudes near the equator, unlike Europeans and Asians whose ancestors gained the paler skin necessary for living in northern latitudes. “Aboriginal Australians likely have one of the oldest continuous population histories outside sub-Saharan Africa today,” say the researchers who analyzed the hair, a group led by Eske Willerslev of the Natural History Museum of Denmark. Dr. Willerslev is an expert at working with ancient DNA, which is usually highly fragmented. Use of the ancient hair reduced the possibility of mixture with European genes and sidestepped the political difficulties of obtaining DNA from living Aborigines. The DNA in the Aboriginal genome, when compared with DNA from other peoples around the world, shows that when modern humans first migrated out of Africa the ancestors of the Aborigines split away from the main group very early, and before Europeans and East Asians split from each other, Dr. Eske and his colleagues write in an article published online Thursday in the journal Science. |
If Aborignes are proven by science to come from africa and who have no admixture with other races as far as science can tell aren't black, all those mixed race and multi-racial and people with 15, 10 or 2% non black dna in the diaspora and in many parts of Africa, cannot be called black either. There is nothing magical about Africa.
White man goes to australia > white australians are still white
Han chinese go to australia > han chinese australians are still han
Indians go to australia > indo-australians are still indians
Black man go to australia > no they arent black they are closer to asians, even though science says they arent mixed.
I find this part of afrocentrism or pan africanism to be rather troubling. It undermines the credibility of black people as being doomed to the status us slaves and victims forever. Because only black people who leave africa on the conditions of white enslavement or white immigration are deemed to be "true black people".

An international team of researchers, including a UK collaboration led by BBSRC- and MRC-funded researchers at Imperial College London, with colleagues at University College London, and University of Cambridge has for the first time sequenced the genome of a man who was an Aboriginal Australian. They have shown that modern day Aboriginal Australians are the direct descendents of the first people who arrived on the continent some 50,000 years ago and that those ancestors left Africa earlier than their European and Asian counterparts. The work is published this evening (22 September 2011) in the journal Science. |

The study provides good evidence that Aboriginal Australians are descendents of the earliest modern explorers, leaving Africa around 24,000 years before their Asian and European counterparts. This is contrary to the previous and most widely accepted theory that all modern humans derive from a single out-of-Africa migration wave into Europe, Asia, and Australia. |
Modern Science Cannot find the Suppose "ASIAN" Gene in aborignes
However, the distinctiveness of the Aborigine DNA means the population has remained relatively isolated, ruling out the possibility of later influxes into Australia from Asia.
"If there had been Asian migrations, we would have expected to see regional specific subgroups in the Aboriginal DNA," Kivisild, of Cambridge, said. "But they were completely absent."
These people are as black as any other so called black person, probably even more because they were more isolated historically and were not colonized by the ottoman turks and its derivative empires like much of east and north africa was.

The term "blacks" has been used to refer to Indigenous Australians since European settlement.[22] While originally related to skin colour, the term is used today to indicate Aboriginal heritage or culture in general and refers to people of any skin pigmentation.[23] In the 1970s, many Aboriginal activists, such as Gary Foley proudly embraced the term "black", and writer Kevin Gilbert's ground-breaking book from the time was entitled Living Black. The book included interviews with several members of the Aboriginal community including Robert Jabanungga reflecting on contemporary Aboriginal culture. |

Foley was born Gary Edward Foley in 1950 in Grafton and spent much of his childhood in Nambucca Heads. He was expelled from school on the basis of race at the age of 15 and arrived in Redfern in 1967 as an apprentice draftsman and became involved in the "black power" movement active in that suburb. |

Dr Gary Foley (born 11 May 1950) is an Australian Aboriginal Gumbainggir activist, academic, writer and actor (he eschews Australian nationality). He is best known for his role in establishing the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra in 1972 and for establishing an Aboriginal Legal Service in Redfern in the 1970s. Foley also co-wrote and acted in the first indigenous Australian stage production, Basically Black. |

They consider themself black, science says they have little admixture or none that can be found, they look black to me, can trace their african ancestry, celebrate malcolm x and black power...Only a deluded person would think these people aren't black
